Music

When I was in fifth grade, a classmate suggested I pursue a career as “a professional flute”. I’m a classically-trained soprano who likes to pretend on occasion I’m an alto, and have fronted every manner of musical outfit from punk to country to jazz to opera. My plat-du-jour is Bergerette, a vocal trio devoted to medieval/Renaissance sex-pop, co-starring Camelia Nine and Pat Janowski. Bergerette has performed at the Winningstad Theatre, the Star Theatre, the Alberta Rose, wineries, weddings, gallery openings, and lingerie fashion shows. Bergerette also performs at intimate salons (as intimate as one person, for those who like to listen to very old French music in the privacy of their homes).

For something completely different, have a listen to the garage punk of Coco Cobra and the Killers. Or, if you’re lucky and catch a rare performance, the wistful, haunting alt-country of Lesser Saints.

Also not-to-be-missed, 2015’s hit one-act opera “Viva’s Holiday”, based on my memoir “Magic Gardens: The Memoirs of Viva Las Vegas”. The “tampon aria” is hilarious, political, and sublime. Portland LOVED this opera by Christopher Corbell, and so will you.
